ABOUT US
We started Sunland Coffee Co. with the goal of bringing the highest quality coffee to the outdoors and bringing people together. Co-Founder Ryan, a barista of 10 years, observed as people gather at coffee shops having conversations with friends, watched as new relationships be made, and had himself some of the most deep and real conversations with regulars; celebrated life’s ups and being there for them through the downs; all while serving something as simple as a cup of coffee. So he thought, why not bring that same spirit outdoors?
SPECIALTY GRADE COFFEE
Speciality coffee means guaranteed quality through all stages of production. This means high quality green coffee beans are roasted to their greatest flavor potential by roasters who have dialed in their skills. Then those beans hit your door step. We ensure specialty grade quality by meeting 3 requirements:
+ All beans must be hand picked by selective picking of mature beans.
+ All beans must score of 80 or higher on a 100-point scale used on the Specialty Coffee Association Cupping form.
+ There can only be a maximum of 5 defects per 350g.
ROAST TO ORDER
Roast to order means the minute you place your order, we start roasting your choice of beans and have it delivered within 3-5 business days. That way you have access to the freshest quality possible.
Typical coffee bags can end up sitting on grocery store selves 1-2 months past their optimal consumption span, meaning that the flavor is lost entirely, so we decided to offer the alternative. Freshly roasted, specialty grade coffee is guaranteed every time.
OUR STORY
Sunland Coffee Co. started with the worst 30th birthday.
Ryan lost his job. It was a position he thought he’d have for a while, and now it just left him defeated, scrolling job websites, hoping to find the motivation to start over again. That's when Rick called. “This is a blessing in disguise,” Rick stated with certainty, “Go start your own business. You can make it happen.” Something in his tone gave Ryan the fuel to jump to his feet again. Neither of them knew this phone call was the beginning of their next adventure—coffee.
Ryan worked sun up to sun down. He had prior experiences working in the coffee industry, like with Caro, a Colombian woman who taught him the science behind the brew, but perhaps more importantly, Ryan had a long-time love for good coffee. Rick decided to go in on Sunland with Ryan. The rest is, well, still unknown. But I guess that’s where it’s your turn.
We believe your adventure should start with a cup of coffee. Whether it’s in your old faithful mug before the big interview or poured from a thermos after sleeping between the earth and stars; we’ll be in your cup holder on the pine-lined drive north or warm in your palm standing at the shore before cutting and chasing waves.
Coffee is the calm before the storm. It sets the tone for the day. If Ben Franklin says "failing to prepare is preparing to fail", we say "the best way to prepare is with Sunland in your cup".
